FIA stops man from going abroad

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has stopped a citizen from going abroad by declaring his original travelling documents as fake. The affected man, Tanveer Ahmed, who hails from Attock told Daily Times that during the last four months he had to visit the FIA office for almost 20 to 30 times but no one was there to hear his viewpoint. He told this scribe that he went to Dubai in 2012, from where he got the visa for South Africa. Then he went there and got the extension of visa and a work permit for a period of five years. Then he started a job in a company there. He came to Pakistan on leave on October 10, 2015, and when he reached Islamabad airport to go back to South Africa on April 27, 2016, two officials of the FIA named Faisal and Sherry declared his visa bogus. He raised a protest by saying that how can they declare the visa bogus whereas he stayed for more than three years in South Africa on the same visa. The FIA officials abused him on protesting and threatened him to send him jail. He said after the incident he got tired by visiting the FIA’s office. He told this scribe that the FIA officials deputed at the airport demanded Rs 50,000 bribe for his going abroad. “I told them to check the visa status from the South African embassy in Islamabad on which the FIA official replied that the embassy did not give such information to them, ” he added. He said that when he met the FIA Director Mazhar-ul-Haq Kakakhel, he said that a probe should be held against the officials who declared his visa bogus and referred him to the Deputy Director, Anti Human Smuggling, Ijaz Khan. He called an inspector in his office and asked him to check his passport. Deputy Director Ijaz abuse and threatened him on which the affected person Tanveer replied that if he had a bogus visa, then a case might be registered against him which would reveal the real picture of the case.
