ISLAMABAD: After the successful response of the Single Country Exhibition at Colombo, Sri Lanka in January, 2016, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is organising another Single Country Exhibition at Colombo, Sri Lanka in January, 2017.

“The event will be organised at the BMICH Exhibition Centre from January 13-15, 2017,” TDAP sources told APP on Tuesday The recent exhibition at Sri Lanka was a huge success as all companies had received tremendous response of Sri Lankan buyers and visitors.

Many companies have received orders from Sri Lankan buyers and the Furniture, Engineering and Pharmaceutical sectors were still negotiating hopefully successful deals. General Fan Company (GFC) has already sent its first consignment to Sri Lanka after successful deals which were materialised as a result of the exhibition.

Pharmaceutical companies have also started the process of registration with Sri Lankan authorities as TDAP had introduced their quality products during the exhibition. The TDAP sources further said that the Single Country Exhibition for 2017 is being organised under the patronage and support of Government of Sri Lanka. It is expected that large number of people will visit the event.

They added that major components of Single Country Exhibition will be exhibition display and Business to Business meetings. They said that renowned companies from Textile, Agriculture, Engineering, Marble & Granite, Handicrafts, Garments & Accessories, and from the Jewelry sector will participate in the event.

The exhibition will be a true showcase of quality brands from Pakistan with collective presence of top Pakistani brands in the event, the sources said. The TDAP sources also said that it was pertinent to mention that Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was operational from June 12, 2005.

Under the Free Trade Agreement, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have agreed to offer preferential market access to each other’s’ exports by way of granting tariff concessions.
