ISLAMABAD: Police has registered the case against a car driver for crushing a bicycle rider under his car instead of a political figure who was proved guilty in the case. Citizen Faiz Muhammad lodged a complaint at Margalla police station that his father Talib Khan, who works as gardener in different houses at sectors F-7 and F-8 was going on his bicycle, and a speeding car bearing registration number YZ-013 hit him after violating the red traffic signal light on August 24. The car was driven by Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf leader and ex provincial assembly candidate from PP-30 Sargodha, Mian Abdul Qadeer Jalip.
After the accident he not only ran the car over injured Talib but also hit two more motorbike riders in panic. While leaving the wounded person dead, the culprit ran away from the spot but at that time he was recognised by the CCTV camera’s footage, installed by the police under the safe city project.
Applicant Faiz told Daily Times that this thing could be viewed clearly in the close circuit camera that after killing his father, Jalip, who was driving the vehicle when the accident occurred, exchanged his seat with his driver. He said that now Qadeer Jalip was threatening them and exerting pressure on them for conciliation and on the other hand he also filed an application in the court of law to get pre- arrest bail of his driver. He accused the police of trying to save the skin of Qadeer Jalip as it was reluctant to register the case against the politician even after camera footage explained the matter. When this scribe asked the police to know their stance in the case, they said that they had not seen the footage yet, and they would take a decision after viewing the footage.
