LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership in the province, while strongly condemning the reference against PTI Chairman Imran Khan, has demanded resignation from National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on his “biasness” in the House.

Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed on Tuesday also filed a condemnation resolution against the NA speaker in the Notice Branch of the Punjab Assembly Secretariat.

In the resolution, he termed the reference against Imran Khan as biased and partial, and in favour of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He demanded the resignation of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, terming his decision to refer the reference against Imran Khan to the Election Commission of Pakistan as a plot against the PTI chairman.

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s advisor Dr Yasmin Rashid held a party workers meeting on the issue on Tuesday. While addressing the workers, she said that her party would face all kinds of pressures from the government and would defeat them come what may. She also made it clear that the rulers should know that they would never be able to blackmail the PTI leadership.

She has said that her party leadership would not be scared by the threats imposed by the PML-N ministers. “We will continue our war against corruption in the country as we are not making any illegitimate demand but requesting for accountability of the corrupt within the ambit of law and constitution,” she added.

Moreover, former governor and PTI leader Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, while talking to media after participating in the Defence Day celebrations at Fortress Stadium on Tuesday, called the Election Commission of Pakistan PML-N’s ‘revenge headquarter’ against the political opponents, adding that the rulers are using the election commission for political victimisation.

He said ECP was working according to desires of the PML-N leadership instead of the law and constitution, as corruption of rulers was visible before the entire nation except the “honourable” commission.

Sarwar said the nation knows that rulers were involved in tax evasion, fraud and money laundering but the election commission has been granting them a clean chit, which was unacceptable and deplorable.
