268 schools closed in Shikarpur

SHIKARPUR: Some local education officers informed that 268 schools are closed in Shikarpur, and according to a survey 55 percent children are out of schools in Shikarpur district. Taluka Education Officer (TEO) Garhi Yasin and Lakhi Ghulam Shah and TEOs of Taluka Garhi Yasin and Khanpur Syed Muhammad Shah and Sikandar Bhutto disclosed this to the Deputy Commissioner Shikarpur Sikandar Ali Khushk in a meeting held at DC Office. They stated that this situation is alarming and there is a need to draw special attention of authorities towards rural areas of Sindh to improve the condition of education. The civil society notables of Shikarpur namely Naveed Alam Abro, Iqbal Detho, Mian Zafar Alvi, Sultan Rind, A. Sami Bilali and veteran educationist Apa Safia Abbasi, and Professor Kewal Ram requested to the provincial government to take notice of this issue and play their role to provide quality education to all.
