LAHORE: The top provincial bureaucracy is motivated to bring a lady officer back to the department on the instructions of a minister, as she was discarded from the Punjab Auqaf Department despite being in the good books of a minister.
The lady officer Nusrat Jabeen was posted at Government Education Center Patoki as Senior Special Education teacher in BPS-17. In 2014, she was transferred to Punjab Auqaf Department Lahore to the post of Assistant Director (training) on deputation.
She succeeded in developing good relations with a minister and due to this she was promoted to Deputy Director (Estate). She got an important position in the department by virtue of the minister’s backing. In the meantime Zonal Administrator Lahore got the message from Director (Estate) that some influential people were trying to steal land plots No 34-E and 4-C in the vicinity of Bagrian Lahore. Both plots were possessed by Auqaf Department.
At this, Zonal Administrator Lahore Waqas Mansoor reached the spot along with officials and demolished the boundary walls constructed by the land grabbers. After the operation, the Zonal Administrator, along with four subordinates went to Green Town Police Station to get a case registered against the land grabbers, but the police took them all in custody. They were astonished to note that rent clerk Umer Khayam and a security guard Muhammad Mukhtar of Auqaf Department were already in custody. On the intervention of the Director Administration, they were released. Police told them that they were arrested on the orders of Deputy Director Nusrat Jabeen as they conducted an operation against the powerful land grabbers and retrieved both plots from the clutches of the land mafia. On the revelation of the saga, a committee was constituted under the supervision of the Additional Secretary to probe the matter.
