Israel converts AI cyber-security defense system for predicting COVID-19 outbreak

JERUSALEM: Rafael Advanced Defence Systems, a state-owned Israeli technology company, said Wednesday that it converted an artificial intelligence (AI) cyber-security defence system to predict coronavirus outbreak locations.

The system uses AI to analyse big data and draw conclusions from it, using databases, including social networks.

Following the spread of the coronavirus, Rafael has converted the system for civilian use so that it will extract data from health, municipal and other databases to predict coronavirus outbreak locations.

The system may help prioritise virus testing and alert Israel’s Ministry of Health and hospitals of expected loads.
