173 lose lives in Rawalpindi in first eight months of 2016

RAWALPINDI: As many as 173 people lost their lives and over 1,000 including 55 police men were injured in 1655 different incidents of murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, rape, suicide and other feuds in reported in the jurisdiction of 30 police stations of district Rawalpindi during first eight months of the current year.

According to statistics from January 1, to August 31, 2016 as many as 173 persons were killed in the cases of old enmity, armed clashes and other incidents while 216 citizens were critically injured in different cases of attempt to murder. three persons lost their lives by committing suicide and 784 people sustained injuries in quarrels and clashes. In 1717 cases of robbery, dacoities and burglaries citizens were deprived of valuables worth billion at gun point.

100 street crimes were reported during this period while 48 vehicles and 38 motorcycles were snatched at gun point and 845 vehicles and motorcycles were stolen.

During this period 40 rape incidents including six incidents of gang rape were reported int he district besides two cases of child sex abuse were also reported. 367 cases of kidnapping including five cases of kidnapping for ransom were reported and14 children were also abducted. 55 cases of attacks on police and resistance to police were reported. 240 traffic incidents occurred.

As many as 394 cars, 351 motorcycles and 100 other vehicles were stolen in different incidents of theft. The citizens were deprived of valuables costing million including 39 buffaloes in 387 cases of theft.

515 gamblers were arrested during these eight months in 76 cases of gambling and stake money and valuables were seized.

722 persons were nabbed in 794 cases of illegal arms and 982 people were arrested in 1460 cases of drug addiction and drug trafficking.

Despite arresting 1003 persons nominated in 1966 cases of dacoity and robbery involving over Rs 3.95 billion and only Rs 1.90 billion were recovered by police.

Police refused to register over 50 cases of robberies and burglaries and the affectees lose their courage to proceed further in the cases after making unproductive persistent rounds of police stations and police posts.
