Two killed over land dispute

HANGU: Two persons were killed when armed groups traded fire over a land dispute, in Doaba area of the district, official sources said on Sunday.

Sources said that two armed groups opened fire at each after exchanging harsh words over what was stated to be an old land dispute in Doaba area of Hangu district. As a result two persons identified as Abdul Malik and Nawaz Khan, both belonging to separate groups, died on the spot.

Police registered a case and have started an investigation.

Mardan lightning death toll rises to five: The death toll from the Madyan lightning-hit incident rose to five, while two persons recovered on Sunday, official sources said.

The lightning struck houses in Madyan area of Swat district late on Saturday night. The dead were identified as two-year-old Shiraz, Bala Nishta, 15, Niaz, 13, Sherzada and another person whose identity could not be ascertained.
