Customs officials foil bid to smuggle gold to Afghanistan

An attempt of smuggling of gold from Pakistan to Afghanistan was foiled, when the customs officials recovered six and half kilo from Afghanistan bound truck here on Friday.

The customs officials said that on tip of, the custom (preventive) staff during routine search operation recovered six and half kilo gold from export goods loaded vehicle bearing registration number KAB-11212.

The commodity was concealed in various cavities of the truck, the official informed.

Two gold smugglers identified as Torab Uthmanzai and Shahid Adil of Nengarhar, Afghanistan were detained and First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against them, the official said.

The price of the seized item was stated to be 55 million rupees in market.
