KARACHI: Funeral prayers of two Pakistan Navy personnel who died in a terrorist attack in Gwadar were offered on Tuesday.

Syed Hassan Raza (medical technician) and Khalil Murad (fireman) were martyred on Monday when terrorists ambushed their vehicle near Jiwani.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah attended the funerals at PNS Shifa Hospital Karachi.

Zakaullah condemned the attack on the personnel and condoled with the bereaved families. The naval chief expressed deep grief and sorrow over the incident and said that such heinous and cowardly acts could not deter the resolve of the Pakistan Navy to stand against terrorism.

“The great sacrifices of shuhada for national defence and to root out terrorism from the country are highly praiseworthy. A handful of terrorists cannot succeed in their nefarious designs of destabilising the country,” he said.

The naval chief reiterated that Pakistan Navy, in collaboration with other Law Enforcement Agencies, was committed to eradicating the menace of terrorism in the country.

The admiral prayed for eternal peace of the martyred souls and grant of courage to the bereaved families to bear the loss and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured. The chief of the naval staff also visited the injured personnel at PNS Shifa Hospital and met their families.

Besides Pakistan Navy officials, personnel of sister services, relatives, friends and a large number of people also attended the funerals.
