MULTAN: A case was registered for the Multan train accident that had occurred on Wednesday night on behalf of the in-charge guard.
According to details, Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said that the findings of the Multan train accident investigation report would be made public after 72 hours. The case was registered at City Police Station Shujabad on behalf of the in-charge guard according to the Railway Act.
Khawaja Saad Rafique said that there was no truth in claims that the train driver had fled after the accident. He said that the driver was under the custody of police.
The incident had taken place on Wednesday night when the Awami Express train had rammed into a stationary cargo train at a red signal. The incident took place at Shershah near Multan as the Awam Express was scheduled to reach Karachi from Peshawar.
Government announced compensation of Rs 800,000 for relatives of the deceased and Rs 300,000 for relatives of the injured. Six had been killed and more than 150 had been injured in the accident.
