Make way, Women On Wheels coming through!

The future is female. This statement was made to be true at the gathering organised by Veet to celebrate women at The Valley restaurant on Saturday.

Understanding the modern day woman and paving ways to #BuildHerUp has consistently been supported by Veet. Girls nowadays have become far more independent as compared to the previous generations where they take care of their needs on their own and are now seen on wheels. One must understand that ways of commute play a key role in moving around and in turn work as a mean of liberation, giving you the authority to move around at your convenience.

Salman Sufi Foundation in collaboration with Veet hosted a press conference discussing women empowerment and the different routes that can be ventured into to encourage girls to bring out their inner confidence. Present at the event we had Humayun Farooq, Director Marketing Health, Reckitt Benkiser, who said, “The woman of today amazes me. She’s headstrong, makes decision for herself without any hesitance and is a go getter. She may have many roles to play in her life yet she lives to thrive more.” The panel discussion included, Salman Sufi, Owner of Salman Sufi Foundation and who brought forth this brilliant initiative of ‘Women On Wheels’. He spoke in depth about how the need for being an independent woman holds key importance in today’s time. In addition, he mentioned that this program aims to empower women by providing them with subsidized motorbikes, training, road safety lessons and provide them with building networking opportunities. Needless to say, this

In addition, we had the brand ambassador, the ever gorgeous Hareem Farooq who proved to be beauty with brains and shared her thoughts on this matter. A few words we penned down to give you a gist of her speech included, “I am pleasantly surprised and inspired by Aliza and Sakina’s story and how they have defied all stereotypes constructed by the society to take charge and steer the wheel toward their goals. Let’s face it, there’s nothing a girl can’t do and to think roles and gender based is merely silly a thought to go by.”

Needless to say we saw glistening eyes in the audience with sheer proudness and willingness to be a go getter as they step out in confidence.

Closing the event, we heard a fabulous announcement made by Mr. Salman Sufi, where he disclosed #WomenOnWheels a bike rally where 1,000 girls will be trained on how to ride a bike as an activity ensuring the message goes out to the masses.

This rally took place on Sunday where we all celebrated the International Women’s Day!

In the words of Beyonce, “Who run the world? Girls!” This was our chance to prove it to everyone.
