People asked to wage war against illiteracy

KHYBER AGENCY: Political Agent Khalid Mehmood has said that it was the prime obligation of everyone to wage a war against illiteracy and ignorance so that extremism and injustice could be eliminated from the society.

He said this while addressing the opening ceremony of “School enrollment programme” arranged in Hashimabad High School in Jamrud on Saturday. The ceremony was also attended by tribal elders, parents and teachers of different schools.

Khalid Mehmood asked the teachers to play their due role and help enroll the out of schools children. The developed nations across the world defeated illiteracy as they made basic education compulsory for every child, he added. He said it was the responsibility of parents to enroll their children in nearby school to help increase the education ratio in Pakistan.

PA Khyber also distributed schools bags among the students in Hashimabad High schools. Hashimabad High School Principal Salim Wazir thanked PA Khalid Mehmood for moral support. Meanwhile, Political tehsildar of Landikotal, Irshad Khan Mohmand flanked by Assistant Agency Education officer of Khyber Agency, Haider Ali visited several state-run schools in Landikotal.

They thoroughly inspected the educational activities and directed schools administration to ensure their attendance to provide better learning environment to the students.
