United stunned as problems mount for Mourinho

MANCHESTER: A defeat for Manchester United against Watford on Sunday saw Jose Mourinho lose three games in a row in the same season for the first time in 14 years, as tensions build up among the Old Trafford faithful.

The 2-1 loss to Manchester City last Saturday, a 1-0 setback in the Europa League tie with Feyenoord on Thursday and now the 3-1 defeat by the hands of Watford have set alarm bells ringing at Old Trafford.

The last time Mourinho was defeated three consecutive times in a season was during his time at Porto in 2002.

After winning their opening three Premier League games, Mourinho had looked to have had a positive impact on Manchester United following the era of Louis van Gaal.

United had their moments in each match, but were nowhere near the side that challenged for trophies. The performance was as disorderly as anything produced under David Moyes or Louis van Gaal.

Martial was not even a shadow of the player we saw last season, Wayne Rooney did nothing to suggest he can turn his own fortunes around and Paul Pogba, who was bought for a huge fee, could not live up to the player United fans hoped he would be.

Jose must think of something different and will need to grind results to make sure Manchester United are feared again as they were in the era of Sir Alex Ferguson.
