LAHORE: British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan vows to produce Olympian boxers across the country as he feels that the youth has a lot of potential in the sports sector.

He believes that the Sting Challenge is a platform for polishing new boxing talent.

While addressing media at the launch of Sting Challenge Round 2, Amir was optimistic about seeing his own country successful in developing the culture of sports for aspiring athletes. Sting Challenge is a social media-driven initiative whereby the youth of Pakistan is presenting a series of physical challenges to Amir Khan. For participating in Round 2, the youth have to register themselves on Facebook challenging Amir Khan.

The event was hosted by renowned actor and host Ali Safina and Anoushey Ashraf whereas actress and model Ushna Shah, singer Junaid Khan of Call the Band and many other celebrities were present on the occasion. When asked if he ever experienced any difficulty or challenges throughout his career when it came to travelling in countries where the political and security conditions were not sound, Amir said that he had not faced any difficulty while working or travelling in the country as Pakistan was a safe place.

Talking about Sting Challenge, he was of the view that challenges help maintain fitness in sports. This will also help youth to get proper training in a professional way which is the dire need of the hour, he added. He also said that an international boxing academy was already under works in Islamabad and another academy will be functional soon in Karachi following an international boxing championship.

Replying to a query regarding the 50 push-up challenge initiated by a Sindh minister, Amir Khan observed that he was a sportsman not a politician, therefore he will not challenge any politician.
