Crackdown on facilitators of terrorists launched

Author: By Imran Chaudhry

LAHORE: Police have announced to start a massive crackdown against crime facilitators of terrorists, drug dealers, land grabbers, hardened criminals, gambling dens, prostitution dens and other crime related issues across the city on Sunday.

This was disclosed by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains during different meetings with local members of the federal and provincial assemblies at the CCPO Office and at Qilla Gujjar Singh with DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf, DIG Investigation Sultan Chaudhry, SSP Operations Muntazar Mehdi and other senior police officers of both operations and investigation wings.

The CCPO directed the SPs, circle officers and station house officers to take immediate action against criminal activities, especially against drug dealers, facilitators, land grabbers, prostitution dens and gambling dens.

He made it clear that if any police official failed to eliminate crime in his respective area, than the concerned police official would no longer be part of the force. He said the strict crackdown was continuing only against criminals, as the police force always stood to protect the life and property of innocent citizens. He directed the police force that no innocent citizen should face any problem during the crackdown.

He said a crackdown had already started against facilitation centres of terrorists, hardened criminals, organised criminal hideouts, prostitutes, narcotics, gambling dens, land grabbers, illegal weapons and corruption at police station level. Instructions were passed to relevant government departments to register all guesthouses and hotels in the city, he added.

CCPO Wains said a new network of intelligence had also been finalised to fish out high-value facilitators of militant organisations and hardened criminals. “Citizens will observe a visible change in the provincial capital in the coming months with respect to reduction in crime rate,” he assured. He said at least 350 police officials were deployed for intelligence duties all over the provincial capital after taking in the loop all intelligence agencies, adding that the lists prepared for the arrest of identified criminals have been forwarded to the concerned SPs and other relevant sections of the department.
