NCWE announces international women entrepreneur visitor programme for Pakistan

National Centre for Women Entrepreneurship (NCWE), a non-profit organisation in the US, has announced International Women Entrepreneur Visitor Programme for Pakistan. In connection with the International Women’s day that is celebrated worldwide on March 8, NCWE is going to launch Micro-lending Fund for Women Entrepreneurs.

On March 7, a ceremony would be organized in Washington, US, in which Shirley Supik, Director NCEW, USA and Uzma Raja, Country head of Pakistan chapter, will sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard.

Shirley Supik, Director NCWE told the scribe that the Programme was being offered for the women of emerging economies and Pakistan is one of them. She told that initial target of 50million USD has been set for Micro-lending Fund. She said that the aim of this Programme is to train women for self-support. She said that the aim of NCWE is raising “Strong Women for Strong World”.

Uzma Raja, signatory from Pakistan, told that young women from Pakistan would visit USA under this Programme and receive training here. She more told that Pakistani women are second to none, they just need a little training and opportunities to showcase their skills. She said that Pakistani women have a chance to interact and learn from their counterparts from other countries as well. She said that women around the globe have been facing similar problems from low wages to lack of educational, employment and health facilities. Shared problems require shared solutions, she added.

Mona Shahab, Director NCWE, USA told that participants from Women Chamber of Commerce Pakistan will be invited in August to USA. They will work as a bridge between USA and Pakistan and facilitate Pakistani entrepreneurs in promotion of their products. This will not only increase exports from Pakistan but also improvise image of Pakistani women around the globe, she added. She told that Uzma Raja will be leaving for Pakistan on March 8, after signing of MOU, to meet various stakeholders in this regard.
