Mayor seals CDA land record over ‘irregularities’

ISLAMABAD: Taking action on the complaints regarding irregularities in the Land and Rehabilitation Directorate, the Mayor Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Sheikh Ansar Aziz ordered the confiscation and sealing of the record of the said directorate; whereas, he also suspended an official of the Estate Management Directorate on the charges of taking bribe.

On Monday, Sheikh Ansar Aziz paid a surprised visit to the offices of the Land and Estate Management Directorates of the Authority and checked the attendance of the officers and officials. During the visit, he also met the visitors who visited these offices in connection with their grievances and listened to their problems.

On this occasion, the Director General (Administration), the Deputy Director General Estate and Land, the Director Security and officers of the concerned formations of the Authority were also present.

He warned the officers of the Authority to solve the problems of the visitors with honesty and demonstrate their best professional and ethical attitude on a daily basis, adding that corrupt mafia would be dealt with iron hand. He urged the officers and officials of the Authority to shun dishonesty as it was not acceptable at any cost.

According to details, taking action on the complaints regarding irregularities in different affairs of the Land and Rehabilitation Directorate, Sheikh Ansar Aziz directed to confiscate and seal the record of the directorate and ordered a high level probe in this context.

Sheikh Ansar Aziz also visited the One Window Operation Directorate where he met the visitors and asked about the behaviour of the officers and officials and other issues, particularly issues related to the transfer of property cases.

On a complaint, Aziz suspended an official for taking bribe and directed all the officers to ensure their daily presence in the office. He also directed them to address the problems of the visitors within the stipulated time without any hassle. He directed for displaying instructions, mentioning the time period for the completion of different works related to property.

He further added the concerned formation of the Authority for installation of telephones at the OWO Directorate so that the visitors could register their complaints against the corrupt officers and officials. He also directed the Director OWO and the Deputy Director General Land and Estate to pay regular visits to the OWO Directorate and solve the problems of the visitors.

Sheikh Ansar Aziz also directed the concerned formations of the Authority to streamline and computerize the land related record and asked the Director Security to coordinate for properly handling the land related record so that it could be computerised at the earliest.

Later, the Mayor MCI and Chairman CDA also visited the Revenue Directorate and the Sports and Culture Directorate where he asked the visitors about payment of dues on account of water and property taxes and allied charges. Besides, he visited the offices of the Deputy Commissioner and the Senior Special Magistrate, where he instructed on further improvement of the facilities.

During the visit to the Transport Cell of the Sports and Culture Directorate, Sheikh Ansar Aziz directed the concerned formation for necessary repair/ maintenance of water tankers, adding that the Sports and Culture Directorate would further be upgraded for promotion of sports and other cultural activities in the city.

The Mayor MCI and Chairman CDA expressed his commitment for making the CDA a people friendly organisation.
