Petition against the upcoming Aurat March filed by a woman

A petition against the upcoming Aurat March filed by a woman who said that ‘immoral slogans’ at the march should not be allowed, heard by Sindh High Court.

Rubina Jatioi the petitioner, further said that the march ‘does not help women get any rights’.

After hearing the arguments, the high court stated that she had no solid reasons to file the petition, directing her to come prepared with fresh arguments to the next hearing of the case.

Petitioner was told that she did not have enough documents to back her claims against the march.

On Monday, a petition calling for Aurat March 2020 to be stopped was admitted by the Lahore High Court for hearing.While hearing the case of Wednesday, the LHC said that freedom of speech cannot be stopped and dismissed the petitioner’s claims that the march would promote ‘obscenity’.

Aurat March is to be held in all major cities of the country to mark International Women’s Day on March 8.

The organisers have said that they are facing threats and hostilities while mobilising for the march, but have vowed to hold it, come what may’.
