PRCS holds visioning session to chalk out 2020-25 strategy

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society organised a three-day visioning exercise to develop a strategic framework for the next five years.

Representatives from PRCS National Headquarters, all provincial branches, departments, academia, Movement partners and other stakeholders participated in the exercise held at the PRCS National Headquarters in Islamabad. The output of the exercise will be presented to donors and partners during the upcoming partnership meeting in June2020. Head of IFRC Delegation in Thailand Christopher Rassi facilitated the visioning exercise. PRCS Chairman Abrarul Haq and Secretary General Khalid Bin Majeed also shared their vision vis-à-vis desired future of the PRCS.

In his remarks at the closing ceremony, Abrarul Haq said that the collective vision will lay the foundation of a strategic framework and development of action plans that will absolutely yield the results the organization is looking for. He said that the strategy will set a direction to enhance the capacity of the organization and make it a self-reliant and sustainable organisation. He appreciated all the participants and the facilitator for their contribution in the visioning exercise. Secretary General Khalid Bin Majeed appreciated all the participants as well as facilitator of the exercise for their inputs, ideas and support. He said that the framework document will serve as a pre-requisite for the partnership meeting that will be held in June this year to set out the Strategy 2025.He said the PRCS being the leading humanitarian organization of the country always remained in the forefront during disasters, adding that the Society has spent the highest budget for humanitarian initiatives during 2019.

Earlier, Joint Director Operations Obaidullah Khan gave a detailed briefing on PRCS programs assessments and recommendations. PRCS Sindh Provincial Branch Secretary Kanwar Waseem, PRCS Punjab Provincial Branch Secretary Muhammad Zahid, PRCS KP Provincial Branch Secretary Syed Ali Hassan, PRCS Balochistan Provincial Branch Secretary Muhammad Ayub, PRCS Merged Areas Branch Secretary Saeed Kamal, Heads of departments and program managers at PRCS NHQ, representatives from International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Partner National Societies also participated in the exercise. At the end, PRCS Chairman Abrarul Haq presented a memento to facilitator of the visioning exercise Christopher Rassi.
