LARKANA: A survey on the directives of Sindh High Court (SHC) disclosed that 45 acres out of 600 acres allocated to Mohenjo Daro have been occupied by habitual land grabbers.
The land grabbers have grown paddy crops on 30 acres and villages have been established on 15 acres. Larkana Division Commissioner Inamullah Dharejo visited the occupied land on Tuesday. The survey was conducted by the revenue officials including Mukhtiarkar Dokri, Asghar Lashari, Tapedars (Patwaris) Gul Hassan Junejo and Irshad Sanghroo and others.
The Sindh High Court Circuit Court had directed to submit detailed report of all the occupied land of the ancient ruins by September 22. Dokri Assistant Commissioner Syed Yar Ali Shah told reporters that they have finalized the report after carrying out the survey.
“It has been found that 45 acres of land has been occupied by land grabbers, and the report of this survey will be submitted to the court on the 22nd of this month as ordered,” said Yar Ali. He added that they would comply with the directions of the court as the case has also been fixed for hearing on the same date.
Curator of the ruins Zaheeruddin Shar said it has been proved that Mohenjo Daro’s land was occupied, and now the court’s decision would be final and to be complied with in letter and spirit.
