ISLAMABAD: Opposition parties have decided to take to the streets in October to give tough time to the government on Panama leaks issue.
On the other hand, the Pakistan People’s Party has made it clear that it would not move the Supreme Court against the Panama scandal.
This has been decided in a meeting between Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah and Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq on Tuesday in Minister’s Colony.
PPP sources told Daily Times that the meeting decided that in the first week of October other opposition parties would be consulted and a country-wide campaign would be started against corruption. They added that their special focus would be on Panama leaks issue.
Both leaders were of the view that it was need of the hour to run the country according to law.
Talking to media, Shah said, “We have no option to go in the Supreme Court at this stage on Panama scandal. PPP recognises the supremacy of parliament and due to this we presented a bill in parliament on this issue. If parliament fails to resolve the issue then we will think about other options.”
