KARACHI: The greenback closed slightly down in value versus rupee on insignificant demand from corporate sector in interbank and open market.
The commercial banks kept maintaining local currency in firm zone besides they controlled inflow and outflow of greenback.
The dollar closed at Rs 104.20 for buying and Rs 104.27 for selling with 05 paisas change against the rupee. The dollar traded at a low of Rs 104.18. The dollar rate differential between kerb and interbank markets remained 70 paisas on average.
Traders said demand from the importers and corporate sector was dull that kept dollar away from surge while payment near-zero from national exchequer stopped dollar to rise. Commercial banks helped the rupee to stand firm versus dollar.
The euro remained up in the interbank market to close at Rs 116.40 for buying and Rs 116.62 for selling after gaining 01 paisas. The pound sterling remained flat and closed at Rs 135.89 and Rs 136.18 for buying and selling respectively. It gained 01 paisa.
Kerb Market: The dollar remained up in value in the open market following flat demand from corporate and private sector in interbank, foreign exchange dealers said.
The dollar closed at Rs 105.10 for buying and Rs 105.35 for selling in the open market against rupee. It gained 05 paisas.
The demand and supply of dollar in the open market was normal while demand from private sector remained moderate.
The pound sterling closed at Rs 136.50.for buying and Rs 136.40 for selling after remained down against rupee by 20 paisas, while euro remained up and closed at Rs 116.25 for buying and closed at Rs 116.50 for selling. It gained 25 paisas.
