The MPAs of PML-N protested in Punjab Assembly on Tuesday for not further extending the bail of party’s supreme leader Nawaz Sharif on the medical grounds as a decision in this regard was made by the Punjab government. As per the details, former speaker and senior lawmaker of PML-N Rana Iqbal said that the government has mocked the ailment of Nawaz Sharif despite the fact that the patient is continuously sending his details from the abroad. The session of Punjab Assembly started after a delay of more than two hours from its scheduled time of 3 PM in the evening with Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in the chair.

Speaking on a point of order, PML-N MPA Samiullah Khan said that the Punjab is facing worst kind of inflation wave these days and every major city of the province is littered with the garbage but it is really unfortunate that the government has decided to take political revenge instead of providing relief to the masses. “The decision made by the provincial cabinet is sheer political revenge. The government did politics over the ailment of Nawaz Sharif as the PTI did the same when Kulsoom Nawaz was fighting a battle with the cancer,” said MPA Samiullah Khan. He further added that Imran Khan had sent a doctor from his own hospital to examine the reports of Nawaz Sharif and the government should now show the press conferences of Dr Yasmin Rashid regarding Sharif’s health condition. In his emotional speech, PML-N MPA Malik Ahmad Khan said that we told the Punjab government that doctors are saying that surgery cannot be practiced at this time and we couldn’t give the final date as the medical tests were underway. Is the board sitting here will decide about the treatment of Nawaz Sharif, he asked. “It is a fascist government and we protest against its decision,” said Malik Ahmad. The MPAs of PML-N also raised slogans against the government while they gave a protest demonstration at the stairs of Punjab Assembly led by the opposition leader Hamza Shehbaz.

Speaking on the occasion, minister for law and parliamentary affairs Raja Basharat said that we didn’t take the decision on the basis of political differences with the PML-N as the court authorized the government to make any decision regarding the extension of bail given to Nawaz Sharif. He was of the view that a committee was constituted by CM over the issue and the committee contacted the personal physician of Nawaz Sharif who didn’t give us any final date of his treatment. “There were severe reservations within the PTI that why Sharif was given permission to go abroad but he was allowed to travel over the personal interference of Imran Khan,” said the law minister. He further added that the PML-N can move to the courts against the decision made by the Punjab government and it will not have any objection if court rules in the favor of PML-N.

Meanwhile, Speaker Pervaiz Elahi admonished a PTI lawmaker Tallat Naqvi for interrupting the proceedings of the House while warning her of suspending her membership for the session. “You should speak when granted permission by the chair. I’ll suspend you for the session if you interrupted again,” warned Elahi.
