ISLAMABAD: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will give a loan of USD 2.475 billion to Pakistan for development of its energy sector during the period of 2017 to 2019, which will be utilised for ongoing energy projects. Documents available with Daily Times show $150 million will be provided for the Sustainable Energy Sector Reform Program, and a $200 million loan will be given for Power Transmission Enhancement Investment Program 2.
Moreover, ADB will lend of $200 million in the second power distribution programme and the government will also invest USD 50 million in this project. ADB will grant USD 300 million in Hydropower Development investment Program, while the government’s share in this program will be 130 million dollars.
ADB will give lending for 2018 projects which includes Sustainable Energy Sector Reform Program- sub-programmes up to $200 million, $200 million for Power Transmission Enhancement Investment Program 2, $300 million for hydro development investment program, $195 million for a second power distribution program. Documents showed that governments will also finance $50 million in Power Transmission Enhancement Investment Program 2, $125 million for hydro development investment program and $45 million for Second Power distribution program.
ADB will also finance $285 million in Pakistan’s power transmission enhancement investment programme, while the government share is around $70 million.
