Anti-corruption lectures begin ahead of HBL PSL 5

Author: Staff Report

KARACHI: The teams participating in the upcoming Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 have been reminded about their duties in combating the evils of spot-fixing. Recently, the players from the Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans franchises participated in anti-corruption and anti-doping sessions. The other four teams are scheduled to attend the sessions on Wednesday (today). Integrity officers have also started joining their respective teams. All officers are residents of Pakistan. The services of the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) have not been sought in this regard. According to details, the fifth edition of the HBL PSL is scheduled to begin on Thursday. Qalandars and Sultans were briefed about the evils of corruption by the Pakistan Cricket Board officials. They informed the players and the support staff that the PCB’s anti-corruption code could be downloaded from their official website. This could help players identify the pitfalls of suspicious activities and individuals. They told the players in attendance to stay away from suspicious individuals and refrain from accepting gifts. Both franchises also received a lecture on doping from PCB’s medicine and sports sciences doctor Sohail Saleem. Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi are scheduled to participate in the sessions on Wednesday (today).
