No check on use of pressure horns in city

MIRPURKHAS: There is no check on use of pressure horns in District Mirpurkhas as commercial vehicle operators continue to use pressure horns with impunity here in District Mirpurkhas and peripheries.

It is observed that drivers of private buses, Rickshaws, Ching Chi, Hi Roof Suzuki, Shahzore and trucks prefer to use the horns as there is little check on its use. Now use of banned horns is on the rise.

Just stand at any busy Road of Mrpurkhas , like the some near Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas, Station Road Market, Baldia Shopping Center are a few locations As soon as motorists expect the way to come on, they start blaring their enhanced horns.

They are either unaware of or choose to ignore a 2017 High Court of Sindh ruling that High Court of Sindh had banned manufacturing , selling, using and propagating pressure horns, multiple sound-emitting and musical horns, but not much success has been achieved to check these everyone seems free of law.

The noisiest banned horns are assembled and openly sold illegally in Station Road Market and New Town second-hand markets by the road-side. Baldia Shopping Center , Jarwari Shahk, Sirsyed Roads, Gharibabad Old Parts Market are a few locations where these horns are being sold in large numbers. They come in a variety of altered forms-air horns meant for four-wheelers but which bikers modify, and dog and China horns that give out 18 different sounds.

While pressure horns sell for anywhere between Rs 500 and Rs 800, depending on its pipes, air horns, which are copycats of well-known brands such as Roots, Bosch and Hella Chrome, are priced between Rs 200 and Rs 500, depending on the clarity of sound. “Most of these horns are altered here.

Traffic police say pressure horns are the noisiest and mostly used by heavy vehicles such as trucks and tourist buses. “They are so loud that High Court of Sindh has banned even heavy vehicles from using them,” said one.

A Pamphlet or notice had been pasted on City Walls and circulated on Social media by Tasawer Iqbal ASP City Mirpurkhas there is ban on pressure horns, multiple sound-emitting and musical horns selling purchasing.

“Two wheelers which have pressure horns or those without silencers should not be permitted to ply in city but in night after 10:00 Pm there is a rush of One Wheeling and without silencers bikes on Hyderabad Road before state Life Building.
