LHC seeks further arguments from PR on October 3

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza has sought more arguments from the Pakistan Railways (PR) counsel on a petition of Royal Palm Golf and Country Club’s management seeking registration of a criminal case against Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and others on charges of illegally possessing the club and damaging its valuable property.

During the hearing on Friday, the judge directed the PR counsel to appear before the court on October 3 with more arguments.

Earlier, on July 4, the LHC allowed the RPGCC management to manage its services without disturbing the possession of Pakistan Railways (PR). The judge had ordered that the respondents should immediately allow the management of the club to restore sporting facilities for the members.

RPGCC counsel Barrister Ali Zafar had argued that the petitioner had been running the club since 2001 under a valid lease and operation agreement known as the Implementation Agreement July 26, 2001, which was executed between RPGCC and PR. The unilateral action of PR was in violation of the terms and conditions of this agreement as well as the law, he added.
