Russian troops arrive for first-ever military exercises

ISLAMABAD: The first ever historic Pakistan and Russia joint military exercises are going to begin today (Saturday). These joint exercises will continue till October 10. According to Director General ISPR Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa, a contingent of Russian land forces reached Pakistan on Friday. Senior army officers of the Pakistan army welcomed the contingent.

Security sources told Daily times that these joint military exercises are conducted in the name of Friendship. The soldiers of the Pakistan and Russian armies shared their experiences with each other during these exercises while troops are expected to showcase their capabilities how to overcome extraordinary situations. Anti terrorism drills would be conducted during the exercise as well.

Pakistan’s special service group will also take part in these exercises and General Raheel Sharif is expected to be the chief guest during the inauguration ceremony of these exercises. Sources revealed that around 200 troops of Russian land forces would take part in the exercises and defense experts said that due to these joint exercises both countries would come close to each other while defense and military relations would enter a new era.
