The Azad Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan has thanked the Malaysian Prime Minister Mr. Mahathir for adopting a principle and bold stand on the Kashmir issue, and demanding implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions to enable the Kashmiri determine their future through diplomatic means.

He also welcomed the establishment of Friends of Kashmir Group in the Malaysian parliament, and hoped that in future, this group will become a joint caucus of all parliamentary parties.

Sardar Masood Khan said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir do not want clash, war or disputes, but their desire their right to self-determination as recognized in the UN resolutions and promised by the international community.

He told the Malaysian leadership that the Kashmiri people were being subjected to brutal killings, enforced disappearances, and sexual violence etc for the last 72 years, but after August 5 last year, the whole of occupied Kashmir has been completely locked down, and all communication means have been blocked.

At this darkest juncture of the history, the announcement of the government and the people of Malaysia that they stand by the Kashmiri people and want end of foreign occupation of the territory of Kashmir, is like a fresh bloom for the Kashmiri people, he said adding that we salute the Malaysian leadership for declinging to change their stand on Kashmir rejecting India’s all out pressure.

During the meetings, the AJK president stressed that the people of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir are keenly interested to utilize the strategy adopted by the ASIAN states to resolve the internal issues and settle disputes with their neighboring countries.

Malaysia and the Azad Kashmir government have made vast arrangements to establish a Malaysia-Kashmir cultural center in Muzaffarabad by the end of this year. Similarly, the MPPIM also intends to donate ambulances for Azad Kashmir.

The AJK president said that Malaysia-Kashmir Youth Movement headed by Sohail Qamaruddin and patronized by Datuk Mohammad Rafik also intends to launch Kashmir campaign. Sardar Masood Khan said that the state government is desirous of cooperation and help of Malaysia in agricultural and industrial sectors and mutual exchanges of teachers and students.
