ITP issues 118,967 less challans in 2016 than last year

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued 454136 challan tickets in the first eight months of the year 2016 which were 118967 less than the corresponding period of last year as during the 2015, 573103 challan tickets were issued to different vehicles on violations of the traffic rules.

Officers of the ITP said that the reason of the less issued challan was that the Inspector General of Police Tariq Masood Yasin has instructed the traffic police to educate people rather issuing more challans. The road accidents and the fatalities and injuries due to the accidents were also comparatively declined in 2016 than the year 2015. In 2016 by now 65 people died and 108 people injured in different road mishaps in Islamabad whereas 91 people died and 140 people injured in different accidents till the same date in 2015.

In Pakistan the traffic police have set 72 different types of traffic rules. In 2016 the traffic police has issued 50882 challan tickets on not wearing helmet, 29742 challan tickets on not fastening the seat belts, 20569 challan tickets for using mobile phones. The traffic police have issued 29444challan tickets on wrong parking, 12709 challan tickets for using fancy number plates. The ITP has issued 14704 for driving without driving license and 20453 challan tickets for careless driving.
