SAARC: Anti-Corruption Forum kicks off on Monday

ISLAMABAD: The two-day South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) seminar aimed at creating a ‘SAARC Nations Anti-Corruption Forum’ will begin on Monday.

The seminar is being organised by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in collaboration with the SAARC secretariat and will discuss the causes of corruption in South Asia, exchange of ideas to reduce corruption, steps taken by the SAARC countries to eradicate corruption from South Asia and efforts made to aware people about the ill effects of corruption.

Its discussions would focus on investigations, prosecution, international cooperation, assets recovery and technical assistance. Information sharing will also take place to formulate a joint strategy to fight corruption on the basis of best practices and lessons learnt.

According to a report, NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry said that it helps to strengthen cooperation amongst the SAARC countries in the fight against corruption.
