CHITRAL: A district advisory committee has been formed under the European Union-funded Project for Poverty Reduction (PPR), of the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP), to highlight and propose suggestions for the solution of health and cleanliness issues at the district level.
The District Health Officer (DHO) of PPR, Javed Ahmad, announced the setting up of the committee at the fifth district development advisory forum of the PPR project. He said that the committee would comprise the district nazim, the deputy commissioner, the DHO, an official from the Education Department, various village council nazims, representatives of the civil society, the Bar Association, traders and media persons. The official said the data collected by the PPR about the health issues and healthcare problems during various round-table conferences would prove effective for those working in this sector. The District Support Manager of People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI), Col (R) Dr Fazal Rahim, the Manager Institution Development Salahuddin and a member district council from Drosh, Mufti Mehmoodul Hassan, said the forum would prove vital for the improvement of the health infrastructure and will also create awareness among the locals. They said that the PPR provided trainings, organised awareness campaigns and rehabilitated the damaged health infrastructure in Drosh.
