ISLAMABAD: The two-day South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Seminar aimed at creating a “SAARC Nations Anti-Corruption Forum” will begin today (Monday).
The seminar is being organised by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in collaboration with the SAARC Secretariat. The seminar would discuss causes of corruption in South Asia, exchange of ideas and experiences to reduce corruption, steps taken by the SAARC countries to eradicate corruption from South Asia and efforts made to aware people regarding the ill effects of corruption.
The seminar would also provide an opportunity to all SAARC countries to work together for public awareness to fight against corruption, which is one of the major hurdles in the way of progress and prosperity of the region.
Moreover, discussions would focus on investigation and prosecution, international cooperation, assets recovery and technical assistance. The information sharing would also take place to formulate a joint strategy to fight corruption on the basis of best practices and lessons learnt.
