Narendra Modi announced in Parliament on Wednesday the formation of a trust for the construction of a Ram Temple in Ayodhya as directed by the Supreme Court in its landmark verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case last November.

“I am happy to announce that in the cabinet meeting today morning, we took significant decisions on the Ayodhya trust. As per the orders of the Supreme Court, we have set up a trust. The Sri Ram Janma Bhumi Tirtha Shetra will be the name of the trust. It will be an independent body,” Modi said.

Following a decades-in length fight in court, India’s most noteworthy court decided in November that the land in northern India ought to be overseen by a trust to regulate the development of a sanctuary. Modi reported in parliament, to commendation and serenades of “Hail Lord Ram” from party supporters, that the trust has now been set up.

The verdict has certainly come as a huge booster for Prime Minister Narendra Modi image as his government will get an opportunity to build a temple through a trust. His image of being ‘Hindu hridaysamrat’ get further cemented. Modi will now seen as the one leader from the saffron pantheon who has fulfilled two demand – abrogation of 370 and building a grand temple. The BJP is expected receive political dividends of the decision in the coming years when temple construction begins.

The concern on everyone’s mind will be that peace continues to be maintained in coming a days, and peaceful coexistence of various communities is not disturbed.
