Anti-polio drive kicks off in capital

ISLAMABAD: The Mayor of the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (MCI) and the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Sheikh Ansar Aziz has said that eradication of deadly diseases like polio was “our” national obligation and the MCI, in collaboration with other organizations, will make all out efforts for eradicating polio from the city so that the status of “Polio Free Islamabad” could be retained.

Sheikh Ansar Aziz stated this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Anti Polio Campaign, 2016, here at the Health Services Directorate (DHS).

On this occasion, representatives of government, Non Government Organisations (NGOs), United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), World Health Organization (WHO), officers and officials of the MCI and the CDA and a large number of children from different educational institutions participated in the ceremony.
