KARACHI: Sindh Assembly on Monday adopted a resolution regarding Panama leaks and demanded a probe against the family of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Pakistan Peoples Party Senior Parliamentary leader Nisar Ahmed Khuhro presented the resolution in the house, demanding from the members to vote for the investigation of Panama allegations against the Prime Minister House.
Nisar Khuhro said that after the TORs were issued and observations were made by the Supreme Court it gave clear indication that Prime Minister hid his involvement in the Panama issue.
The resolution stated that it is a joint demand of countrymen that a comprehensive and clear accountability should be launched against the PM house, though the federal government is deliberately hampering the Panama investigations.
Nisar said the opposition parties’ consensus on TORs regarding the Panama issue has been rejected by the Prime Minister and his government several times.
In this situation , the government’s attitude is disappointing and confusing.
Similarly, another resolution was tabled by PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader MPA Khurram Sherzaman in the house regarding Panama issue, but it was rejected by the house, especially by the PPP.
The resolution demanded that the apex court and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should disqualify the Prime Minister. Nisar Khuhro said PPP would not support this inappropriate resolution that demands to declare the PM ineligible without any investigation.
Earlier, the lawmakers jointly adopted (as supplementary agenda) a resolution to condemn human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir. Sharmeela Farooqi tabled the resolution. They also spoke against the Indian atrocities in IHK.
The Minister for Parliamentary Affairs tabled Zulfikarabad Development Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2016 which was passed by the house.
According to the bill, Chief Minister Sindh would be the Chairman of the Authority’s governing body which would latter appoint vice chairman and members from Thatta and Sijawal districts (provincial Assembly members).
Meanwhile, after the report of Standing Committee on Education the Karachi Institute of Technology and Entrepreneurship Bill, 2015, was not taken up inthe assembly.
Later, parliamentary affairs Minister Nisar Khuhro while answering the supplementary questions regarding legal court cases in the province said 14319 cases out of total 15000 were decided in 2010, while in 2011 some 14249 cases were decided out of 15581.
Similarly, a total 13053 cases out of 15017 were decided in 2012 and 14373 were decided out of total 16686 during 2013.
