Police van bombed in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: Nine people, including four policemen, sustained injuries after a police van came under attack in Shabqadar Tehsil on Monday.

Sources said unidentified people had planted explosives at a roadside in Sro Killay in Shabqadar Tehsil. The bomb exploded when a police van was passing through the area. Five civilians and four policemen were rushed to Civil Hospital in Shabqadar. Later, two police officials were shifted to Peshawar in critical condition.

Sro Police Station House Officer Wilayat Khan was among the injured people. Other cops injured in the blast were identified as Yasir, Hayat Khan and Muhammad Fawad.

A Bomb Disposal Unit official said the explosives were placed in a pressure cooker which was connected to a remote-control.

The injured civilians were identified as Amir Nawaz, Shah Wali, Kabir Shah, Sheraz and Shina Gul.
