Kashmir an internationally recognised disputed territory: Sartaj

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Tuesday said that whole world recognised Kashmir as a disputed territory.

The issue was still very much on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council and Pakistan would fully expose India before the international community at that forum, he added. Talking to media-persons outside the Parliament House here, Sartaj said that Pakistan would not be cowed down and would continue to moral, political and diplomatical support to the Kashmiris fighting for their right to self-determination in accordance with the UNSC resolutions.

He said that Kashmir was not an integral part of India, rather it was an internationally recognised disputed territory. India must stop human rights violations in occupied the Kashmir and the international community should also play its due role in that regard, he said.

Replying to a question, Sartaj said India’s dream to isolate Pakistan internationally would not be realised. India was threatening to unilaterally abrogate the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) to divert attention from the atrocities being committed by its occupation forces on innocent Kashmiris, he added. Both the countries, he said, were bound to honour the IWT agreement.
