Karachi: Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday said education emergency is to be imposed in Sindh to bring back out of school children.

He inaugurated Second Sindh Joint Education Sector Review – a two day session being organized by Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh.

He said Article 25-A is for free and compulsory education for children aged 5-16, so they need to ensure that kids are in school. “Money is not a problem for us. The real challenge is to utilize funds and achieve the desired outcome,” he added.

Chief Minister said that to ensure that every child is in school, Child Registration Certificate from NADRA should be linked with the education system.

“We should start registration from the day child is born. The Minister of Education should mobilize all MPAs to look after schools in their respective constituencies,” suggested the CM.

Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Dahar assured that every child in Sindh will get quality education by successful implementation of Sindh Education Sector Plan.

He said around 6.6 Million children are out of school (age bracket 5-16 yrs) in the province. “It is very much important for government, development partners, and civil society to synergize resources and efforts to tackle this challenge,” said Dahar.

Secretary Education and Literacy Dr. Fazlullah Pechuho said that governance is also one of the challenges but they have managed it by hiring Monitors for schools and absconder teachers.

“Another important step towards improving governance is Complaint Management System called ILMI. It’s a text based system through which any one can lodge a complaint,” he added. Earlier, Chief Program Manager Reform Support Unit Faisal Ahmed Uquaili shed light on road to Sindh Education Sector Plan development.
