LAHORE: Punjab Chief Secretary Captain (r) Zahid Saeed has assured Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed that no Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker would be arrested during the party’s scheduled Raiwind march tomorrow.

According to opposition leader’s spokesman Hafiz Zeshan Rasheed, the Punjab chief secretary gave this assurance during a meeting with the PTI delegation, led by Rasheed, in the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday. PTI legislators Dr Murad Rass and Mumtaz Maharvi also accompanied the opposition leader on the occasion.

The spokesman told Daily Times that the PTI delegation members expressed their reservations about the intensions and tactics of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, as it not only threatened the PTI workers, but also constituted the Nawaz Jannisar Force to create difficulties for the people participating in the Raiwind march.

The opposition leader told the Punjab chief secretary that PTI was a peaceful democratic political party struggling to change the corrupt system in a peaceful manner. He also assured the chief secretary that PTI would hold the Raiwind march tomorrow by keeping in mind all democratic practices. The Punjab chief secretary confirmed that no marcher of PTI would be arrested or stopped from participating in the scheduled protest and all petrol filling stations would remain open and no one would be allowed to halt transport activities in the city during the march.

Later, the opposition leader held a parliamentary party meeting in which a plan to participate in the Raiwind march with their native areas’ rallies was finalised. The opposition leader also filed a resolution in the Punjab Assembly Secretariat against the government for arresting the farmers during their recent protest. The resolution condemned the government for arresting the poor farmers and demanded their immediate release. On the other hand, PTI Chairman Imran Khan continued his political activities in the city with a view to make his upcoming rally successful, and visited several reception and awareness camps established in different areas of the city.
