The tuition culture

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Pursuance of studies seems like a race in Pakistan. It is more about running and chasing numbers than really learning what one is being taught in schools. Tuitions, I remember once, earned a bad name. But nowadays, tuitions have become the trendiest fashion amongst the people of my age. Those who do not take tuitions are in a state of confusion. I understand how tuitions have helped some of my friends who really need help outside the class. But the need to have other tuitions, those that charge an admission fee in addition to regular class fee, are beyond my comprehension.

In this rat race of going to one tuition and then another, students neglect their time, health and money, hoping that certain tutors may give them a hint about what would be in in their examinations. Who are we to blame when even students of the most renowned schools take tuitions and get caught up in this race? Teachers, parents or schools themselves?
