Cancellation sought for Shafqat Amanat Ali’s concert in India

NEW DELHI: After Raj Thackeray lead ‘Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s (MNS) gave a 48-hour ultimatum to all the Pakistani artistes of leaving the country, Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal have reportedly written a letter to Bengaluru police to not allow singer Shafqat Amanat Ali to perform at a concert.

According to ANI, VHP and Bajrang Dal are seeking a ban on Shafqat’s performance which is scheduled to take place on tomorrow (Friday) in Bengaluru.

MNS sought a ban on all Pakistani artistes working in India over the deadly Uri attacks in Jammu & Kashmir which took away the lives of over 18 Indian army personnel.

Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan is a Pakistani classical singer belonging to Patiala Gharana lineage. He was the lead vocalist of the Pakistani rock band Fuzön. He was awarded the President’s Pride of Performance civil award on March 23, 2008.

Shafqat sang “Mitwa” composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy for the movie ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’. The song was listed in the top charts in India, helping propel Shafqat into stardom.

The first video of the premier song of the album ‘Khairheyan De Naal’, was aired on all channels in India and Pakistan.

He also appeared on the Rubaroo episode of ‘Indian Idol 4’.

“Aankhon ke sagar”, “Khamaj,” “Ankhiyan” and “Mitwa” are some of his most popular works.
