ISLAMABAD: For the first time in parliamentary history, National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defence Production is going to visit the General Headquarters (GHQ) of the Pakistan Army today.

Parliamentary sources told Daily Times that the defence production committee under the leadership of its chairman Khawaja Sohail Munsoor would visit the Yadgar Shohida to lay wreaths and pay tribute. The committee members would be briefed at the General Headquarters on the successes of the Pakistan Army in operation Zarb e Azb, combing and intelligence based operations on the national action plan. Due to security reasons, members of the committee have been asked by the NA secretariat to use official transport for the GHQ visit arranged by this secretariat in front of Parliament House as no member would be allowed to go on their private vehicle, sources disclosed.

It may be mentioned here that in the past, NA and Senate defence committees visited the General Headquarters for briefing on defence and security issues but it is the first time that the defence production committee of the National Assembly is going to visit the General Headquarters.
