‘Rulers favouring Modi by arresting local farmers’

Author: Staff Report

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) leader and former deputy prime minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi accused that the Sharif brothers were arresting Pakistani farmers only to import vegetables from India, thus doing a great favour to Modi. In a statement issued on Wednesday, he said that the Sharif brothers were not changing the foreign policy and were giving favour to the Indian farmers by importing Indian potatoes, tomatoes and other vegetables, besides destroying Pakistan agriculture sector. He said that on one hand Modi was shutting down our water supply, and on the other hand Sharif brothers were victimising farmers in Punjab by arresting them and putting them in jails. Elahi said, “Instead of putting our farmers in jails, the rulers should immediately accept their demands and provide them cheap electricity, water, fertilisers, seed and incentives to increase productivity.” Elahi said that his party fully supported the struggle and demands of the farmers against the anti-farmers policy, adding that whenever PML-N came into power, the farmers suffered.
