KARACHI: The officials of the District Education Office, East, have locked their offices and started working in a temporary office due to an attack by a mysterious virus.
Daily Times has learnt that thousands of small insects have attacked the office of the District Education Officer for Primary (District East) at 95 Depot Line near Coast Guards Headquarters here.
Interestingly, the said office has also become a breading home for stray dogs due to negligence of the authorities concerned. “The small insects have bitten half of the officials of the district office. These insects have also badly affected the dogs, causing them severe bleeding,” said a source.
The source added the quantum of insects has rapidly increased, injuring many staff members of the education office compelling the authorities to seek help from the health department for Congo Virus spray.

“It is submitted that after Eid ul Azha many insects were seen in our office premises. They may cause Congo. You are requested to send insecticide spray team to kill the insects at the earliest so that we may be able to save ourselves from expected chronic diseases”, stated a letter available to Daily Times.
After receiving no response from health authorities, the District Education Officer collected Rs 300 from all staff members for the spray, which was executed on Tuesday, the offices were locked for 48 hours and the staff had to establish temporary offices in the open ground, the source added.
