Indian aggression may lead to nuclear war: Barjees Tahir

Author: Sheraz Rathore

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Chaudhary Barjees Tahir has said that India is creating the atmosphere for Third World War due to her belligerence. The Kashmir issue should be resolved in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people. He was talking to Daily Times in an exclusive interview. The provoking of the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) would be a declaration of war from Indian side.

He said that India wants to divert global attention from her atrocities in Indian held Kashmir by getting the SAARC summit cancelled. China and Turkey, by supporting Pakistan’s point of view in the United Nations, have told the world that without resolution of Kashmir issue, peace is not possible.

He said that the Simla agreement did not affect the resolutions of UNO. Now the fifth generation of Kashmiris is offering sacrifices because they do not want to live with India. It is a 70 year old issue and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people have pulled off the veil from the so-called democratic face of India. He said that by virtue of Pakistan’s foreign policy, OIC had passed the resolution on Kashmir by an overwhelming majority. China and Turkey have shown their backing of Kashmir issue in United Nation.

The minister said that India is trying to blackmail Pakistan by calling off the SAARC summit conference and threatening to violate the Indus Water Treaty. It is not the first time that India boycotted the SAARC summit; it has done so four times in the past. Now it would not be possible for India to distract the world’s attention from the situation in Indian occupied Kashmir as the sacrifices of Kashmiris are keeping alive the Kashmir issue.

The PML(N) leader said that India is carrying out a genocide of Kashmiri people and committing the worst ever terrorism in IHK by using pellet guns and violating human rights there but UNO is playing role of silent spectator. As a matter of fact, UNO, which failed to resolve the Kashmir problem, has proved itself to be a dead horse.

“We don’t want another Hiroshima and Nagasaki to appear on the map of the world but if India continues to be stubborn, that could lead towards a nuclear war,” Barjees added. He said that Nawaz Sharif always kept the Kashmir issue on top priority and always took the Kashmiri leadership into confidence before talking about the matter.
