Journalists protest against manhandling at UAF

UMERKOT: Local journalists staged demo to demand registration of FIR against culprits who manhandled media persons at Agriculture University Faisalabad on Wednesday.

The demonstration was held in front of local press club Umerkot which was participated by civil society organization representatives, activists, and lawyers.

They were raising the slogans and holding the banners for the registration of FIR and their arrest of involved ones.

Speaking the demonstration Mohammad Ali Kumbhar said it was an attack on the freedom of expression. Journalist can never bow under fear or favor.

He added that attack was made for surfacing the facts of university administration.

Senior Journalist Mumtaz Arisar Said that journalist are peaceful community who echo the voices of oppressed segments of society, by leaving their lives at risk in field. Government need to introduce the insurance policy for journalist and ensure their protection at various levels.

Civil society representative Sardar Bhayo said those journalists are third eye of society who explores the unexplored facts in limelight and attacking them reflects the guilt of university administration.

Allah Jurio, Ghulam Mustafa Khoso, Imam Bux Khaskheli, Umar Soomro, Utam Sangrasi and others also condemned the attack on media persons.
