KARACHI: Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has been named as the captain of Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Islamabad United for the fifth edition. The 21-year-old also became the youngest captain in HBL PSL’s history after being asked to shoulder the leadership responsibility by the franchise. “It is an honor for me to lead a side which has won two PSL Trophies and i would like to thank Ali Naqvi for this opportunity,” said Shadab. “I hope to learn as much as I can from this opportunity and hope that I will live up to expectations they have of me.” “I know what it takes to win the PSL, and working with Misbah bhai I am sure that we can challenge for the trophy again,” he added. Team owner Ali Naqvi also shared his thoughts while announcing the decision. “Our aim has always been to promote and groom young talent from Pakistan. We also want to groom them in leadership roles. Hence we have unanimously decided to make Shadab khan the captain of ISLU,” said Naqvi. All 34 matches of PSL5 are set to be played across four international venues of the country, Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi, from February 20 to March 22.
